2024 – Year in Review
January 14, 2025
2024 was another very successful year at Skylit! We are proud to be in our 9th year in business, and to continue in our mission to help Nova Scotians go solar. Read on for our 2024 – Year in Review.
On the Cutting Edge
Skylit has always been at the forefront of the solar industry in Nova Scotia. Our unique financing model through Solar Scotia Energy Inc (a CEDIF) launched in 2017 and brought incentives for homes and businesses to go solar before any rebates were available. We were the first to bring many solar products to Nova Scotia – and even all of Canada – including different types of micro inverters, hybrid inverters, and batteries. And we remain the exclusive approved installer of REC solar panels – the best panel on the market – in all of Canada.
In 2024 we installed another 680kW of solar, bringing our total installs to date over 4.1MW. We’ve also increased our residential battery storage to over 380kWh. And we’ve done it all: on-grid, off-grid; roof mounted, ground mounted; homes, businesses, farms. We even installed over 50kW at Ross Creek Centre for the Arts.

New Tax Credit Available for Businesses
2024 also saw the adoption – via enabling legislation – of the Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit. This means that businesses can now get a tax credit worth up to 30% for installing solar. Coupled with other incentives, including a rebate through Efficiency NS and the enhanced capital cost allowance, it’s a an excellent time for companies to go solar.
While the Greener Homes grant ended in early 2024, the SolarHomes rebate of $0.30 per watt up to $3,000 still remains as an incentive for homeowners to go solar. As of now the Greener Homes loan is still available, giving 10 year, 0% financing for efficiency upgrades, including solar. Non-profits can receive $0.60 per watt, up to $15,000. And the home battery pilot gives an incentive for battery back up connected to new or existing solar installations.
So there were lots of things to celebrate in 2024. And here’s to a sunny 2025!
